Sussanne Khan pursued her passion for design by earning an associate Art degree in Interior Design from Brooks College in Long Beach, California in 1995. She began her professional journey in 1996, initially interning at JBI in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles, where she honed her skills in hand-drawn design techniques.Further through the years she has practiced her unique style of interior and conceptual design

On Feb 26th, 2011 she founded and introduced The Charcoal Project in mumbai, India’s first luxury and most unique interior design concept store. This expansive 14,000 square foot space showcases curated collections from both Indian and international designers, including her own handcrafted furniture line. Her expertise has led her to collaborate with prestigious brand and designers. In The Charcoal Project along with a team of architects, interior designers, product designers, she has delivered several conceptual projects in the world of residential private homes, destination, villas, commercial offices and model show  apartments for variousleading real estate brands – Oberoi Realty, Panchshil Realty, Lodha Group, Rustomjee, Tribeca Developers, Avas Villas, etc. are to name a few. In 2015 she was asked to join YOO, John Hitchcox and the world’s most celebrated designer Philippe Starck’s design company as one of theirs Creative directors.She uses her imagination and talents to create diverse design stories inspired by the history of art and architecture through the ages. Her design philosophy emphasizes a blend of industrial masculinity with feminine shabby chic, creating spaces that exude “quiet luxury.”

Sussanne’s contribution to design have been recognized with several accolades, including being named Asia’s most influential Designer by DOTY, consistently featuring in Architectural Digest’s top 100 designers list over the past four years, Trend Setter for Home Spaces by ET Panache, Best furniture collection by Good Homes, Fastest growing leader and fastest growing brand by Asia One Magazine through her journey over the years.

After 14 extraordinary years, In 2025, she expanded her brand by opening a second flagship store in Hyderabad, crafting story rich concepts and diving into the intricate world of interiors and architecturally inspired designs, she found her true calling two years ago. with all energies aligned, a second retail gallery that embodies the essence of creativity and innovatio.
